What a great day! I was able to work with my husband for this wedding. I always get excited for brides on their wedding day. On the occasion that get to work with my husband Rich it is super special for me because I get to see the reaction first hand of when the groom catches a glimpse of his beautiful bride. Besides freelancing with makeup I double as an assistant to Rich being his second shooter. We work extremely well together and look forward to sharing the wonderful experience with the married couple to be.
The night before the big day, I packed all my makeup and chair to head out nice and early to be in Windsor. Rich of course packs all his camera gear, makes sure batteries are charged and cards are ready to go.
It was early but what a gorgeous day! April can be hit or miss, you never know what kind of weather you are going to get. The sun was shining, birds were singing and the air was calm. Upon arrival to the house I was met with a bustle of ladies getting ready and little ones. The bride was originally from England and she relocated to Canada with her husband. As I was doing makeup I thought to myself how wonderful it was that all the family and friends were able to travel from England and celebrate with the bride and groom. What a wonderful group!
As I am still doing makeup, Rich arrives. Takes photos of the bride getting ready and then he goes over to take photos of the groom getting ready. After he returns back to where the bride is, it is almost showtime as the bus shows up to the house. Typically this is when I am done for the day and then I wait to see photos after. Not this day! I switch out my brushes for my camera.
Travelling quickly to the church to get set up we are met by the groom and groomsmen. What a nice group!
As Rachel and Adonis say their ‘I dos’ we are both there snapping every second. This ceremony was extra special as the couple’s son has his baptism as well.
When we are wrapping up at the church I then head homeward as Rich continues on to the reception at Sprucewood Winery.
The next day is where I am super antsy to see the photos. Rich has the luxury of passing off his raw images to me for editing. I really enjoy going through each photo and yes I am smiling the entire time looking at the special and fun moments. Anyone who has shot a wedding knows that you cannot edit a wedding in one session. It takes hours but it is all worth it!!!!
Thank you Rachel, Adonis and baby Frankie 🙂
